Babolat Pure Drive 2021

It is crazy to think that this is the 10th edition of the Pure Drive.

Since its launch in 1994, this latest evolution brings with it all the core features that you would usually associate with the Pure Drive. Alongside them, Babolat have introduced new elements to make this iconic frame stand out from its rivals even more.

‘Smacwrap’ is their latest innovation which enhances the feel you have from the racket. This material is integrated within the carbon layers at specific areas that acts as a vibration filter without impairing the frame’s mechanical properties. It allows the vibrations caused by the ball hitting the strings to be filtered, whilst the vibrations that can potentially lead to arm problems are reduced.

Frame stability has again, been improved in this new edition. This increases the power, which in turn offers explosivity even when a player doesn’t hit the middle of the sweet spot. A new system called High Torsional Rigidity (HTR), is a new lay-up composition in the head of the racket for increased rigidity to produce explosive winners at will.

Power is the main characteristic of the Pure Drive. It always has been, as well as the addition of explosivity from this new version. However, the Pure Drive is effectively an all-round frame. Weighing 300g with a 100sq. inch head size, it offers a nice mix of power and control. A open 16 x 19 string pattern helps to deliver the optimum amount of spin and feel. It is a racket that suits a whole host of playing styles and abilities; from club players right the way through to professionals.

A striking new two-tone ‘night storm’ blue colour makes the Pure Drive stand out even more than before and is prominent on their luggage as well as the racket. Available in both a 6R and 12R thermo bag, which sit along side a striking backpack design.
