Description
The Astrox range are Yonex’s most attack orientated rackets and are known as ‘counterbalance’ frames. This means they will offer a more precise weight distribution throughout the grip end, frame top and joint, therefore, increasing the rotational power the racket provides.
The Yonex Astrox 99 Tour is designed for the back court player, who is looking to dominate the court with an attacking game, whilst being a more affordable option compared to the 99 Pro version due to being made in Taiwan, rather than Japan.
It is equipped with the Power-Assist Bumper, a tungsten-infused weighted bumper installed at the top of the frame transferring additional weight to the shuttle for more powerful smashes.
Please note, that no head cover is supplied with this racket.
Technology:
Nanomesh Neo – Ensures a stronger more flexible frame, while increased shaft flex creates maximum power.
AEROBOX Frame – A combination of faster swing speeds and a solid feel.
Isometric – Increases the size of your sweet spot.
Rotational Generator System – By applying the counterbalance theory, weight is distributed throughout the grip end, frame top and the joint for maximum control. The transition to the next shot can be performed smoothly with rapid succession.
Energy Boost Cap – The new shape allows the shaft to flex and stabilises the racket face by preventing the shaft twisting, increasing control.
Built-in T Joint – Increases strength between the frame and shaft eliminating head twist for more control.
Power-Assist Bumper – Attached to enforce heavier, increased power by configuring the weight directed into the shuttlecock with a tungsten-infused nylon bumper.

Choose your string
String choice is incredibly important as the string is what makes contact with the shuttle. There’s a number of factors to take into account, such as construction, gauge, tension. A thinner gauge string will pull up tighter, increasing the potential for more power and control, but durability will be sacrificed. Below we’ve put together a short description for the range of strings that we offer. If you have any questions about string choice please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
| Yonex Aerobite 0.67mm x 0.61mm: | A hybrid combination with alternating gauges and coatings. Your main string is textured with a rough feel to it allowing the string to grip the shuttle more for those precise cut smashes or hairpin net shots. Whilst your cross string is ‘Aerosonic’ providing you with ultimate power and a high hitting sound. The ultimate combination! |
| Yonex Aersonic 0.61mm: | The world’s thinnest string provides you with maximum power and an extremely high hitting sound. Featuring a new “compact filled” construction which has allowed the gaps between the core and outer threads to be filled with resin to provide extra durability for such a thin gauge! |
| Yonex BG65Ti 0.70mm: | Our best selling string, suitable for a variety of players from beginners to advanced competitors. A titanium coating on the string increases durability and also enhances the power you can generate from the string. Still used by many of the world’s top players. |
| Yonex BG66 Ultimax 0.65mm: | A perfect balance of speed, control and durability. One of our most popular strings that is being used at the moment. High intensity multifilament and a thin gauge offers more power and control, but you will sacrifice durability. It also offers a very crisp hitting sound. |
| Yonex BG80 0.68mm: | Suited for the harder hitters, this string has a high Modulus Vectran Fibre coiled around the multi-filament construction to give better tension maintenance and reduce string movement. |
| Yonex BG80 Power 0.68mm: | Suited for the harder hitters, this string has a high Modulus Vectran Fibre coiled around the multi-filament construction to give better tension maintenance and reduce string movement. Offers a more solid, hard feel compared to BG80. |
| Yonex Nanogy 95 0.69mm: | Multifilament cup stack technology offers you enhanced feel and power. Suited for players looking for speed and durability. Don’t be fooled by the 0.69mm gauge, this is one of the most durable strings from Yonex. |
| Yonex Nanogy 98 0.66mm: | Sharp feeling with a 0.66mm gauge. Great repulsion for high clear and defensive shots. Multifilament cup stack technology offers you enhanced feel and power. |
| Yonex Nanogy 99 0.69mm: | A rough texture on this string allows for more bite on the shuttle, providing more control on hairpin net shots and cuts. |
| Yonex BG66 Force 0.65mm | A multifilament core with a special braided high polymer nylon fibre outer offers great control. 0.65mm gauge strings allows for devastating, heavy smashes. |
| Yonex Exbolt 0.63mm | Forged fibre generates a high hitting sound on powerful smashes and clears. A combination of quick repulsion and durability. |
