The Head Speed Team L is replacing the out-going Speed Lite. It has a 100 sq. inch head size and weighs 265g. A 340mm balance gives you more weight towards the head which will help generate power. This is a perfect racket for a junior is moving up to their first full size racket.
Within the range, a new technology called Auxetic, is designed to react to ball impact by adapting its internal structure. When you hit the ball, the yoke piece of the racket actively responds in real time. It adapts its internal structure, deforming to give you optimal impact feel and highly accurate feedback.
Research has shown how the Auxetic construction will improve your feel on every ball you play, even when you hit the ball off-centre, outside the sweet spot.
New players with fast games can now enjoy sensational feel with the introduction of the innovative Auxetic construction. Part of the successful Speed series that is recommended by Novak Djokovic, the Speed Team L is lighter than the Team and easy to handle. The refresh includes a new, elegant and asymmetric design with a matte and glossy finish and chrome details.
• Lightweight racket
• Easy-to-handle for new players
• Sensational feel
• New elegant and asymmetric design
Please note, that no head cover is supplied with this racket.
Technology:
Auxetic – Auxetic constructions show a unique deformation compared to non-Auxetic constructions. Due to their internal properties, Auxetic constructions widen when a “pull” force is applied and contract when squeezed. The bigger the applied force, the bigger the Auxetic reaction.
Graphene Inside – Strengthens the frame, provides greater stability and optimises energy transfer from racket to ball.
Power Grommets – The enlarged power grommets maximise string movement for increased power.
Speed Pattern – A special speed string pattern provides with the perfect mix of power under control.
Directional Drilling – Directional drilling combine increased power and sweet spot, delivering a plush impact feel.
Speed Beam – The aerodynamic cross-section of the Speed beam maximises swing speed and power.

Demonstration / Test Rackets Service
Here at Withers Sports we offer a demo racket service both online and in-store from any of our shops. Please note that it is advisable to contact us if you’re planning on visiting one of our shops as we cannot always guarantee that demo rackets will always be available when needed. Our demo service is well used and sometimes needs a bit of planning to keep the rackets available for you.
We carry an extensive selection of performance rackets for you to try before you buy. It offers that added reassurance that you are selecting your perfect racket. We would always advise that you visit our shops for this service as by talking with us we can narrow down your selection and hopefully help speed the process up by offering suitable rackets. Our expertise on rackets is second to none and we’re confident that we can offer you the best service and advice, making the daunting task of choosing a racket a little easier!
In-store we request proof of identity and we ask a few questions to confirm who you are and where you play etc. Assuming all is ok with this, we’re happy to let you take demo rackets away BUT if you are looking to use Withersonline.com to request a demo we do things a little differently! We treat it as a sale but we refund your money minus a £15.00 demo charge fee when the racket is returned to us. It needs to get back to us in the allocated time and in a similar condition to when it was given out (please see our online terms & conditions below).
Choose a racket to try from our racket selections. Any racket that is available in our demo programme will be listed in the grip size drop down menu as “Demo this racket”. As a rule, nearly all performance rackets (rackets priced at £125 or above) will be in our DEMO programme.
There are no grip size options on demo rackets. If you wish to increase the size to suit yourself then we are happy for you to do so.
To demo a racket we simply charge you the selling price of the chosen racket, which is inclusive of a £15 demo fee. Once the racket(s) are returned, after inspection, we will either refund your account minus the £15.00 demo fee (this charge is per racket) OR if you wish to make a purchase we will send out your preferred racket. Please note that the demo fee does not occur if a racket purchase is made.
We allow no more than two rackets at a time to be tried. Please note that the demo charge (£15.00) is based on the number of rackets. So if you take two rackets out then the charge when the rackets are returned will be £30 (providing the rackets are returned to us in similar condition – please see below).
We do have the right to charge an additional fee if we feel that the racket has been misused/ill-treated or late getting back to us BUT please note that this will be discussed beforehand. We very much hope that this will not happen but as a matter of precaution we feel the need to include this.
Demo rackets are allowed to be kept for 12 days only. This time scale includes postage both ways, which we allow an average of 2 days to get to you and 2 days for you to get back to us. Taking this into account should allow you 8 days of usage. If a racket is returned to us late and we have not been advised of a delay then we have the right to charge an additional fee.
Please call us on 0116 2622113 to discuss anything with regards to this service, we are here to help. We would obviously prefer to see you in-store so that more accurate advice and support can be given but we know that location doesn’t always make this possible.
Choose your string
String choice is incredibly important as the string is what makes contact with the ball. There’s a number of factors to take into account, such as construction, gauge, tension. Below we’ve put together a short description for the range of strings that we offer. If you have any questions about string choice please don’t hesitate to get in touch.Choose your stringString choice is incredibly important as the string is what makes contact with the ball. There’s a number of factors to take into account, such as construction, gauge, tension. Below we’ve put together a short description for the range of strings that we offer. If you have any questions about string choice please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Babolat RPM Blast 1.25mm/1.30mm/1.35mm:
One of our best sellers, the RPM Blast is one of the most iconic strings as it was designed for Rafael Nadal. The octagonal shaping increases the grip for more spin on the ball. A silicone coating on this polyester/monofilament string prolongs the life of the string and will also let the string snap back into place rather than moving everywhere on contact. Available in a variety of gauges, the 1.25mm offers the most feel and spin, whilst the 1.30 and 1.35mm offer more durability.
Babolat RPM Blast Rough 1.25mm/1.30mm:
For ultimate spin! This is a rougher, more textured version of the RPM Blast to increase the spin and bite on the ball. The Babolat logo is actually embedded into the string to create that spin! The 1.25mm gauge will offer you more feel and spin potential, compared to the 1.30mm which will last longer. The string that is designed to offer you spin, power and incomparable comfort all rolled into one!
Babolat RPM Power 1.25mm/1.30mm:
This is the latest string that Babolat has designed. It is the ideal choice if you like to play with spin, but feel you need more power. An additional coating offers an exceptional crisp feel to the string. The 1.25mm gauge will offer you more feel and spin potential, compared to the 1.30mm which will last longer. As used by Dominic Thiem.
Babolat Synthetic Gut 1.30mm:
A synthetic gut is a good all round string offering comfort and durability. If you are a frequent string breaker and play with a heavy amount of top spin, then there are better options available.
Babolat Touch Tonic 1.35mm:
Slightly different to Babolat Touch VS as it isn’t a premium grade gut. It does however feature Thermogut technology which aids durability and resistance to humidity. The perfect choice for people who have suffered with tennis elbow and also a great choice when preferring a hybrid set up. However, durability and natural gut do not go hand in hand, especially when playing in damp conditions and outside and it isn’t cheap. The 1.35mm gauge will help with durability.
Babolat Touch VS 1.25mm/1.30mm:
The original natural gut string! Babolat Touch VS is a premium grade gut and offers you the best of comfort, power and feel of any string, whilst being very easy on your arm and holding its tension well. The perfect choice for people who have suffered with tennis elbow and also a great choice when preferring a hybrid set up. However, durability and natural gut do not go hand in hand, especially when playing in damp conditions and outside. If you play with heavy top spin, then we’d probably suggest leaning towards a full bed of polyester as you will probably shred the gut quite quickly.. and it isn’t cheap! The 1.25mm gauge offers you maximum playability, feel and power, whilst the 1.30mm lasts longer.
Babolat Xcel 1.30mm:
One of our softest multifilament strings, ideal for people who have suffered with tennis elbow or any arm injuries in the past. This offers a fantastic blend of feel, comfort and power. 1.30mm gauge offers better durability for a multifilament string.
Head Lynx 1.25mm:
A good all round polyester offering exceptional touch thanks to a co-polymer mixture which also increases comfort and power. Polyester strings are usually known to be quite hard, however Head Lynx is one of the softer poly strings designed to offer more feel. A good string for the performance junior player who is breaking strings quite frequently, but we would recommend a lower tension if chosen. 1.25mm offers enhanced feel and spin, compared to a thicker gauge.
Head Lynx Touch 1.25mm:
Lynx Touch provides a combination of power when needed and spin when desired, all while maintaining incredible touch and feel. The construction of the co-polyester monofilament strings allows for excellent playability. A faster swing increases control and spin, thanks to the outer part of the strings, whilst a slower swing enhances touch and power, thanks to the core
Head Lynx Tour 1.25mm:
A more shaped version of the Head Lynx. This 6 sided polyester increases spin potential and offers more control as the string will grip onto the ball more. The co-polymer mixture also increases comfort and power.
Luxilon Alu Power 1.25mm:
One of our most popular choices either in a full bed or hybrid set up. Incredible power, control and spin potential, suited for a big hitter. One of the most popular choices on the ATP and WTA circuits. For a 1.25mm gauge it offers great durability without compromising on feel.
Luxilon Alu Power Rough 1.25mm:
One of our most popular choices either in a full bed or hybrid set up. Incredible power, control suited for a big hitter. It has a rough texture to it to create added bite and spin on the ball. One of the most popular choices on the ATP and WTA circuits. For a 1.25mm gauge it offers great durability without compromising on feel.
Luxilon Original 1.30mm:
For frequent string breakers who need something long lasting. Holds its tension well for a polyester. We’d recommend stringing this slightly looser to provide optimum playability.
Luxilon Savage 1.27mm:
Offering maximum spin potential because of its hexagonal shaping suited for the hard hitter wanting more control. A liquid crystaline composition enhances the feel from the string. A 1.27mm gauge will increase durability, but won’t sacrifice feel and spin potential.
Solinco Hyper G 1.25mm/1.30mm:
A more versatile polyester offers feel and control, whilst still generating the power and spin, similar to that of Tour Bite, but a more softer feel. A string that suits a range of players from intermediate to advanced players. Available in a 1.25mm or 1.30mm gauge, the thinner gauge will enhance the feel and increase the spin and bite on the ball. A thicker gauge will last longer.
Solinco Tour Bite 1.20mm/1.25mm/1/30mm:
One of our best selling strings that will offer you maximum power and increased spin thanks to its square shaping. Suited for the harder hitter. Available in a 1.20mm, 1.25mm or 1.30mm gauge, the thinner gauge will enhance the feel and increase the spin and bite on the ball. A thicker gauge will last longer.
Wilson Sensation 1.30mm:
A comfortable playing string with a nice blend of feel and playability, known for its vibration dampening qualities. It has a long standing reputation as an arm friendly string. Ideal for juniors and a good choice when using it in a hybrid set up. 1.30mm gauge offers better durability for a multifilament string.
Yonex Poly Tour Air 1.25mm:
Offers players an arm-friendly string with enhanced feel that retains power and durability better than traditional polyester strings, which reduces the impact on your arm. Suitable for juniors moving away from a multifilament and anyone who has suffered with tennis elbow or any other arm injuries. Suitable for junior players moving away from a multifilament string.
Yonex Poly Tour Fire 1.25mm:
A hard hitting polyester with silicone oil infused filament designed to create more snapback on the string through more string movement, creating extreme spin.
Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25mm:
Our best selling string! Suited for junior players who are starting to break strings frequently or advanced players who want a comfortable, yet durable polyester string offering feel, control and power all in one. A softer polyester string suited for all types of players. The 1.25mm will enhance the feel and also spin potential you can generate.
Yonex Poly Tour Spin 1.25mm:
A pentagonal shaped polyester offering great bite and maximum spin potential. A more solid feel compared to Poly Tour Pro.
